There are several ways to add heat to a process, by way of a heat exchanger or industrial coil that utilizes a heating media, like steam or hot utility fluid to heat process air.

Sometimes steam and hot fluids are not available and heating must be done with electricity by way of an electric heater.  And in some cases steam can be injected directly into the product being heated.
